Easy last minute ideal. Turn a dallor stor skeleton into a gruesome zombie. I wanted our front yard zombie theme this year but only had skeletons from last year. Didn't have the money to buy new decorations so decided to see if I could create a zombie from these skeletons. I love the way they came out and it didn't cost me anything because I already had everything on hand.
Here's what you'll need:
*Any skeleton of your choice mine came from the $.98 store last year.
*Acrylic paint in Huntergreen, Black, Burgundy or a deep red.
*Paintbrushes and different size and something to mix the paint in such as a plate or a bowl anything will do.
*Clear coat spray paint to seal in the paint from outdoor weather. If you're keeping it inside you don't need to do the step.
Let's get started, you want to start with dipping your brush in a cup of water keep the cup of water on hand. Then add a little bit of green paint at a time to the entire skeleton once it has been covered then mixs the dark green with a little bit of black. Make sure not to add too much black add one drop at a time and mix. I use the darker green color for the shading of the skeleton. You want to shade or make darker the collarbone, jawline, Eyesockets, nose , in between the rib cage the teeth and four head. I didn't like the way this came out so I decided to make the color a bit darker to give more depth.
if you mess up no worrys just add more water to the brush to clean it up.
Now it's time for my favorite part adding the blood( Red acrylic paint). This again is pretty easy you again want to start with a clean brush dipped it in water and then in the red paint. This part allows the painted to drip to simulate dripping blood. For the zombie you definitely do not want to forget to paint them out and the fingers, rib cage is optional but I think this added to the gruesome look.
You then want to let the paint dry for a few hours before spraing the Crystal enamel over it.
When spraing the crystal-clear enamel you're going to want to follow the directions on the bottle this will probably take about two coats. Once this is dry again let it dry for at least 24 hours. Since I was putting this outside I needed something sturdy to hold it up and in place. For this part I use an old bookshelf board and E6000 glue. I added the glued to the bottom of the skeleton and held it in place on the board for a few minutes until it was secure. And again let this dry overnight or for 24 hours. After that it's free for you to decorate how you choose.
I just let it dry on my table overnight.
Here it is placed outside you can't see the board, I covered that part up with dirt really simple really easy.
