Kids Comic SuperHero Party Supplies

Calling All Superhero!!!
We have three boys which means superhero are a big deal in our family. So when we where planing our two younger sons birthday party we knew we where going to pick superhero. The problem is we couldn't pick one or even narrow between Avengers or Justice league. We love so many so I decided on the theme of Comic book. This way we didn't have to pick and both boys got whichever hero they love. When I got stared I was wondering how I was going to do this but luckily I knew where to go for ideals. Yes you all know what I'm talking about pinterest
I also went on amazon and found a few things I didn't have to make and wasn't to bad in price like
and these Cardboard Superhero Word Cutouts that I absolutely love and will be adding to there play room after the party. I also found Superhero Comics Dessert Plates and Superhero Comics Lunch Napkins.

So I have about a week left till the big party but we have finally got everything done including the photo backdrop which I made from dollar tree and thrift items. I was lucky enough to find the white felt at the thrift store for $2, yes I got 75inches by 55inches of white felt for only $2 it was in the Halloween section at goodwill. Then I used black poster board which I got at dollar tree for 69 cents each.

I needed 3 poster board but at this time of the picture I had only bought 2. For this I needed
Poster board
White color pencil
Ruler
Scissors
Yellow, Red, Blue construction paper
Glue Stick
Hot glue

I stared by drawling on one side of the poster board using a ruler and the white pencil. I found a few picture of the internet of skyscrapers to use as a reference. It took a few time to get it the way I want it but I didn't worry because no one see this side. Then I cut it out and the yellow red and blue paper to make windows.
Here you only see the yellow window and only 2 poster board.
I hot glue the poster board to the felt and I use glue stick to add the windows.
Now time for the next part the paint. I already had paint on hand, I get my paints from either hobby lobby or Walmart, there about .50 cents to a dollar.
I use yellow, light blue, gray, white and black paint.
I stared off painting a light signal with yellow, then the clouds. I out line it all with either gray or black and last I add the blue dots witch are star but it could also be the dots they have in the background of comics.

Here is a better look on the buildings

After I deiced I wanted to add comic speech bubbles. I found these on the internet by typing in comic pow, bam, zap and then printed them out. I cut them and glue them on the felt.

I hung it up in my kids play room to get a feel of how it would look

As you can see my boys lover there heroes. After I hung this up I knew it was missing more. I though it would look better with buildings around the kids. I had a lot of boxes from many things as you can see.
I bough black wrapping paper from hobby lobby is was $5 for 50 feet, plenty and I wrap the boxes like gift and cut out more construction and use glue stick to add them to the boxes.

Yes they love it. It came out better then I though it would.
I also made these utensil holder from a coffee cam and green bean can. I had left over spray paint in blue and green and spray pained them. Then I printed out blank comic bubbles and glue them to the cans, really easy but looks great. And after my boys want to use then for there pencil.

All other party supplies I got from the dollar tree but to see more you'll just have to wait and see the next blog. Hope you enjoy and give these a try.

Witch silhouette

Every Halloween we pick a theme for our house. Last year my kids and I pick zombie. There are DIY projects on my blog if you are interested in them for your home this year. We love Halloween but I don't like or have a lot of money to spend on decoration. So most of the time I make them.
This one is no exception but I got this ideal from of course Pinterest witch silhouette pattern.
This was the image I found an took inspiration from.
To get stared you will need one or more Black poster board, I got mine from the dollar store( .69 ) but they also have them at any craft store as well and they are about a dollar.
Next White color pencil to drawl your image.
 Scissors to cut the image
Tape and tissue paper (optional)
You can draw the grid or if your good or ok like me you can free hand it. I chose to draw the face and hat differently then the image because it was easier for me, you can basically chose any kind of shadow shape. I mostly you the image to get an idea of what I wanted to do. After drawling the Image and you're happy with it, you cut it out. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of this but make sure you cut carefully and save the scrap pieces you do not use you can use these pieces to make the cauldron and bat. Now it's time to assemble it on your window but if you like me you go a little further. I chose to cut eyes out from the bat and tape red tissue paper to it I also decided to add fire to my cauldron so I use red yellow and orange tissue paper you can cut them in long triangle shapes to make your fire and place the colors sporadically on the other side of the cauldron (the part that faces inward).
If you are satisfied with the way it looks after adding tissue paper simply tape it onto your window and I added lights to give a shadow at nighttime.
This is the image from the inside during the day. I don't particularly care how it looks because I have blinds and curtains so I don't see it as much. But if you don't you could be neater and make it look nice I'm lazy. The lights are from last year at target 50 count candy corn lights. You could use whatever you have on hand I would've liked to have that tinier lights but I couldn't find any so I stuck with what I had.
This is the night time image when it's all light up. I'm extremely happy with the way it came out I am thinking of adding another which on the other side at a later time.
I also forgot to mention if you do not have fairy lights you can also just put a lamp in front of the window if you don't already have one in front of the window.

I hope you give this a try this was really fun to make surprisingly as always
HAPPY HUNTING🎃

DIY Halloween fireplace mantle

My Fireplace at night

During the day
So to get stared I do what most people do, at least the ones I know. Which was going on pinterest and type in Halloween fireplace, they have amazing ideals on there. I was going for scary and creepy without spending a lot of money or being to scary. Because I have children and I'm also having a party soon for my sons and I don't want to scare are little guests. So one of the first picture I saw was this one and this is my inspiration.

I love this ideal and its easy. All you need for this is:
1)Your hands or your children(mine love this)
2)Black paper(I use children's construction paper $5 at walmart for , you can also use scrapbook paper)  3) scissor and tape  4) white color pencil or chalk

Its truly easy tape the black paper to the wall some where there's light you want to make a shadow on your paper .You can also use a lamp or flash light. Now have your helper make a creepy hand and trace the shadow. After you just simple cut and tape the hand on the edge of your fireplace. If you are planing on using your fire place and you don't have electric fireplace I would not do this.

Here is a close-up of what I have above my fireplace.  My fireplace did not come with a man so I use an IKEA picture ledge in black, this was $15 for the 45inch one.  I purchase my 4 brown picture frames at Target when they were Clarenceing them out and at Walmart about $2/$4 dollar for each. I put last years Halloween pictures of my boys when they were zombies. The white ones are from goodwill. You can truly fine a lot of inexpensive wooden frames from just about any thrift store. I took white acrylic craft paint (.50 cents at Walmart)  and of course painted them. I then took bronze acrylic craft paint($2 at target) and painted along the edge and crevices of the frame to make him look distressed I used a paintbrush and my fingers to smudge it out. The best thing is if you don't like it you can just paint over with the white until you get it right the way you wanted to look.

These are the three that I placed around my house. I like using the bronze because it looks like the wood is distressed but gives it a nice shine to it. The prints in the picture frame I simply typed in the computer Halloween chalkboard art and came upon these. I then printed them out to fit the frame 8 x 10 frame and stuck them in.

All the Halloween decorations you see I purchased at dollar tree over the years. You can still find some of these things in stores today.

The deer head ($12) and frame ($5) I purchased at hobby lobby. I painted the deer head with the same white acrylic craft paint and the antlers of the deer I painted bronze with the same acrylic craft paint. Through on some spiderwebs and fake spiders, also added in the picture on the side( also from dollar tree ). And there you go my not so creepy but creepy scary Halloween fireplace mantle. Don't know if I'm truly done with it but I like where it's going. Until later happy hunting.
